Mr Manishankar Aiyar one of the most outspoken and proactive legislator who is always in forefront in any public debate on various general issues affecting the common man, be it CWG or any other scams, has called into question the very relevance of having Aadhaar when we are already bearing the burdens of all other cards for according to Mr Aiyar the problem lies with the method of allocation and not in identification for availing the benefits under a particular scheme. Due to lack of governance in rural India the implementation part of this initiative might face new hurdles and without involving State Govt in this project, Project Adhaar might not be able to serve the purpose for which it began. He has compared this project with famous dream initiative of Rajeev Gandhi to reform Panchayti Raj which remained ineffective till date due to lack of cooperation from State Governments to enrich governance at the grass root level. It is true that technology plays crucial role in transforming societies but to sustain such transformations political establishment has a role to play and it cannot be ignored. For more read here
